The fort was founded in 1793 by Lt.-Governor John Graves Simcoe and is regarded as the birthplace of Toronto. The battle of York, April 27, 1813, saw the fort invaded by American troops. Fort York contains Canada's largest surviving collection of War of 1812 buildings and is designated as a National Historic Site.

A special thank you to all many volunteers for your wonderful service in so many areas of our communities.
